When does a trend that has come and gone countless times over a period of decades, become just another fashion choice? There's no simple answer to this question, but that's where we are with Sleeves, aka arm warmers, bougie gloves.
Sleeves are in sort of a purgatorial waiting room trying to bust into the "main", mainstream. Sure they've been around forever. Dancers and athletes have worn variations of them as both a way to keep warm and as a fashion statement. Punks, Goths and Angsty Teens have worn them, but now may finally be their time.
Recent social posts by Katherine Schwarzenegger and husband Chris Pratt have been yet another step in the direction of full-on acceptance.
The always pithy prattprattpratt said of his wife, "Watch out drivers! Katherine’s got some serious driving gloves goin’ on. She means business."
One commenter responded, "I'm hoping she's a trendsetter with this! We just lost one icon from skin cancer. We don't need to lose any more." Another said, "Don’t hate on the sun protection ??" garnering more than 3,000 Likes.
When it comes to safety, it's not just sun protection the newest sleeves offer. There are even cut-resistant sleeves made out of Kevlar. To learn more about the Kevlar sleeves click here.
There are several applications for sleeves. We hope they stick around!
