Coach is known as a symbol of luxury and elegance. The classic brand even seems to increase one's social status. While it's one of the more “affordable” luxury brands, targeting those looking to step into the luxury market, I wasn't sure it could live up to the hype.
Real Talk
Before writing this article, I wondered why Coach put such hefty prices on their products.
Then, I thought back to the time I sewed a leather outfit by hand; I remembered swearing off leather because my figures got pricked too often and needles broke all the time.
That alone makes it worth the price when you think about all hard work that goes into making a leather product.
After doing some online research, I decided to visit the Coach outlet store in my area. After all, looking online doesn’t always cut it.
I found some great sales and the staff was very helpful. I loved the atmosphere in the store. It was a quiet place to shop as I searched for something that would strike my fancy.
I found this adorable little purse that fit in my hand (which is pretty small) for $69. I also found a couple of larger, well-made purses for $150, a ladies wallet for $79.
Best of all (for a person like me who isn’t a purse person), I found a lanyard wallet that can hang around my neck and hold all of my cards. The cost was $36.
Shopping at Coach was a wonderful experience. Leather products are pricey, but this is due to how hard the material is to work with.
As a new admirer of Coach, I began looking into the company itself.
Origin Story
Coach New York, was founded in 1961 as a family business. (Note: There are conflicting dates and details reported as far as the founding of the company.) Originally they employed six leather-workers. Each worker specialized in classic luxury leather goods specifically wallets and billfolds.
They soon expanded to hand bags, luggage, accessories, and ready-to-wear fashion. The horse and carriage logo or the updated “C” logo identify the brand and make it instantly recognizable.
TRIVIA
Chef Mario Batali is married to Susi Cahn, daughter of Coach Founders, Miles & Lillian Cahn
Recent Years
In 2017 Coach changed its name to Tapestry Inc. a multinational fashion holding company which licenses its name and brand to other companies from eyewear to fragrance.
Tapestry also owns Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman.
Definitely a designer luxury brand! I found the following online:
Motif Chain Bag Charm - $95
Skinny Wallet - $175
Tabby Crossbody Wristlet - $225
Tabby Backpack - $275
Rogue Bag 0 $850
Heritage C Suede Trench Coat - $1,800
The Takeaway
In a world where trends come and go, Coach definitely has an enduring style. Fashion enthusiasts from across the globe embrace this classic luxury brand. Coach remains popular today, devotees include the much sought-after Gen-Z shoppers.
I'm a new fan! How about you?

I really enjoyed reading this article!! I especially appreciated being taking on a shopping trip, by proxy, where I felt that I got to learn that the Coach stores feel approachable. I also love that you gave a list (and some pictures) of some items that you found. I am definitely drawn to classic pieces and Coach fits the bill!
