The Dior 2024-2025 Autumn-Winter Show

The Dior Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 show was unveiled at Paris Fashion Week. It was a stunning homage to the legacy of Miss Dior. The runway was set in the beautiful Tuileries Garden near The Louvre.

The venue was adorned with installations by Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni, enhancing the show's theme of exploring the relationship between the female form and space.

Under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri, the collection revisited the transformative era of the late 1960s. It was a time when Dior introduced its ready-to-wear line, Miss Dior.

Who Was Miss Dior?
Ginette Dior was widely known as Catherine Dior.  Born in 1017, she was the younger sister of Christian Dior.  She was a member of the French Resistance during World War II.

During the war, Catherine was arrested by the Gestapo in Paris, subjected to torture, and subsequently deported to the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp.

After the war she became a flower trader in Paris.  Then a flower farmer in Provence producing flowers for fragrance.  When Christian launched Miss Dior in 1947, he named the perfume after his beloved sister.  Catherine Dior passed from this life to the next on June 17th, 2008 in France. She was 90 years old.

The Dior Autumn-Winter collection paid tribute to Miss Dior and the brand's history, while pushing forward with innovative designs. Chiuri drew inspiration from the period when Marc Bohan and Philippe Guibourgé led Dior. Back then high-end fashion was evolving rapidly and becoming more accessible globally.

The show featured a mix of flowing silhouettes and vibrant colors, including whites, oranges, pinks, and neon greens, reflecting the palette of the 1960s. Materials like double cashmere and gabardine were crafted into elegant yet comfortable pieces, from dresses and coats to skirts and pants.

The Takeaway
The 2024-2025 Autumn-Winter Collection celebrated the blend of past and present designs. The collection showcased Dior's ongoing commitment to creativity and innovation in fashion.
