Like our favorite super heroes, Stella Modern Italian Cuisine has a great origin story. Stella was born in Rome, where owner Lori Burson spent time during her sophomore year in college. Immersed in the Italian culture, Lori fell in love with not only the food and wine but also the Italian tradition of turning every meal into a celebration with friends and family. Inspired by this, she envisioned bringing this communal dining experience back to her hometown.
After nearly two decades in the food service industry, Lori realized her dream by opening Stella on April 22, 2010. Designed to be a neighborhood restaurant, Stella is situated on the edge of Lori's own Heritage Hills neighborhood, reflecting her community-centric atmosphere. Her desire was (and remains) to be able to "live and work around friends and family."
The restaurant offers a blend of fine dining, high quality and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. One quest said, "Not only is the food out of this world, but the service is too!" Another added, "…and that AMAZING wine list to go with it!"
Lori has described Stella as a place where guests can relax and "be comfortable here in cargo shorts or a tuxedo." Central to Stella’s identity is the commitment to exceptional customer service, encapsulated in Lori’s philosophy: "The answer is yes. What's the question?"
Thanks to the spacious outdoor patio, guests can be accompanied by their 4-legged companions. Earlier this year Stella celebrated National Pet Day on the Patio and encouraged guests via their Instagram page to "Bring your furry friend for dinner and drinks!" They even offered a special pet menu!
The wood-fired brick oven, a focal point of the restaurant, bakes delicious cracker-thin pizzas while guests enjoy seasonal cocktails, traditional favorites, and a selection of both local and imported beers. Stella's wine list is noteworthy, featuring a curated selection of American and Italian wines, perfect for pairing with any meal.
